Biography
Marcella Rodriguez serves as the Director of School-Based Mental Health and Wellness for Sacramento County Office of Education. Marcella began her career working for a community-based organization in 2009 as a Youth Advocate serving a local High School. Soon thereafter transition to serve within Sacramento County’s school system. Marcella has supported the creation and development of various programs throughout the county such as the development of school-based mental health services focused on primary grade levels and the first district-lead preschool within River Delta Unified School District. Marcella launched two Student Support Centers within Sacramento City Unified School District and helped to merge Sacramento County’s Behavioral Health and Sacramento City Unified School District’s school-based mental health systems, launching Safe Zone Squad in 2019. Marcella has a deep intention of building accessible and sustainable systems and services for all community members.
Marcella is a bilingual, first-generation Latina-Americana who holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Master of Science in Counseling, a Pupil Personnel Service Credential, and an Administrative Service Credential. She is also a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and National Certified Counselor. Marcella lives in California alongside her husband, two energetic and heart-filled children, and Luke, a first-generation Labradoodle named after the one and only, Luke Skywalker.
